New Delhi, April 17 -- The Women's Reservation Act, 2023, officially came into force, marking a significant step towards enhancing women's representation in India's legislative bodies. The landmark law provides for one-third reservation of seats for women in the Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies, including the Delhi Assembly.

Also known as the One Hundred and Sixth Constitutional Amendment Act or Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, the legislation was passed by Parliament in 2023 and is seen as a major milestone in promoting gender equity in public life across the federal structure.
