New Delhi, June 10 -- The Union Cabinet on Wednesday passed a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi for becoming India's longest-serving elected Prime Minister in consecutive terms, as he completed 4,399 days in office, surpassing the record held by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

Cabinet members also gave a standing ovation to the Prime Minister in recognition of the milestone. PM Modi overtook Nehru's record of 4,398 consecutive days in office after the first general election.
