Anantnag, June 17 -- Two persons were killed and several others injured after a vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near the Lidder River in the Aru area of Pahalgam in south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Wednesday, officials said.

The accident involved a vehicle bearing registration number JK03C-6737, which reportedly lost control and fell into the gorge along the river stretch, they said.

Officials said two persons died on the spot, while multiple others sustained injuries in the mishap. The exact number of injured was being verified.
