The New Security Map of Bharat: From Two-and-a-Half to Four Fronts
Jammu, Aug. 21 -- There was a time when Bharat's national-security discourse was dominated by the concept of the "two-and-a-half-front" challenge-the western front with Pakistan, the northern front with China, and the half-front represented by terrorism, insurgency and Naxalism within the country. But in 2026, the security environment has fundamentally changed. Terrorist violence in Jammu & Kashmir has declined significantly. According to government figures, terror-related incidents fell from 228 in 2018 to 12 in 2025, while organised stone-pelting has virtually disappeared.
