Jammu, June 10 -- A rusted mortar shell was recovered from a border village on the outskirts of Jammu and later neutralised in a controlled explosion by a bomb disposal squad, officials said on Wednesday.

The explosive device was discovered in Kothey Sanian village of Bishnah when labourers were filling the plinth of a house with soil. The workers alerted authorities after noticing the suspicious object.

Acting swiftly, a bomb disposal squad reached the spot and secured the area before shifting the shell to an open field, where it was safely neutralised through a controlled explosion.
