Jammu, Aug. 17 -- Says PoJK people would have wanted to join India pre-2019
Srinagar, Aug 15 : Asserting that the historic decision taken by National Conference leaders 80 years ago to accede to India was the "right decision," Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday renewed his pitch for the restoration of special status and statehood to the region, terming it essential for upholding the nation's federal structure.
Addressing the main Independence Day function at the Bakshi Stadium here, Abdullah maintained that if Jammu and Kashmir's special position under Article 370 had not been revoked in 2019, the people of Pakistan-occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK) would today be protesting to reunite with Jammu and Kashmir.
