Srinagar, July 29 -- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday apologised for her remarks made during a protest at Jantar Mantar, saying she regretted any hurt caused by her comments on the use of force against protesters in Kashmir.

Speaking at a press conference on the party's 27th foundation day, Mehbooba said, "If the remarks have hurt the people, I apologise."

The controversy stemmed from her July 23 visit to Jantar Mantar to support a protest over alleged examination irregularities, where, while criticising police action against students in Delhi, she appeared to justify the use of force in Kashmir by citing the security situation.
