Jammu Tawi, Aug. 6 -- The Union Government on Wednesday informed Parliament that 10.88 million tonnes of lithium resources have been identified in Jammu & Kashmir, with Salal-Haimna and Kotla figuring among the country's major lithium-bearing areas discovered through exploration undertaken by the Geological Survey of India (GSI).
Replying to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey said the lithium resources have been augmented through exploration projects carried out by GSI and funded by the National Mineral Exploration and Development Trust (NMEDT). Besides Jammu & Kashmir, major lithium resources have also been identified in Rajasthan.
