Srinagar, Sept. 18 -- Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday called for creating an early warning system on climate change so that real-time decisions can mitigate its impact.
Addressing a national seminar on environment, climate and sustainability, Sinha said systems should not merely record changes in glaciers, forests or river valleys, but also forecast what could happen next.
"We must be able to deliver that information to those who today need to decide what should be built, where it should be built, and what should be conserved," Sinha said.
Sinha said the role of scientists and environmental experts is no longer just to describe the changes taking place.
