Jammu Tawi, April 10 -- The much-talked-about high-security prison in Jammu & Kashmir is now ready, with the Home Department officially notifying it as a prison.

The Union Territory's Home Department has issued a notification declaring it both a prison and a designated high-security jail.

"In pursuance of sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the Prisons Act, 1894, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir hereby declares the structures erected on the land measuring 148 kanals, bearing Khasra No. 427 min & 486 min at village Dambra, Tehsil Mahanpur, District Kathua, as a prison, and also designates the said prison as 'High Security Prison, Mahanpur,'" reads the notification issued by Principal Secretary Home, Chandraker Bharti.
