Srinagar, Aug. 1 -- Heavy overnight rainfall triggered flash floods in parts of north Kashmir on Friday, inundating roads and a government school in Bandipora district, while the Meteorological Department (MeT) forecast intermittent rain and thunderstorms across Jammu and Kashmir over the next week.
Officials said flash floods struck Saderkoot Bala in Bandipora, where muddy water entered the Government Primary School at Ganie Mohalla, Malpora, damaging classroom mats and forcing suspension of classes for the day.
In Baramulla district, flash floods affected the Brennar area of Sopore. However, no loss of life or damage to property was reported. Authorities said the situation was under close watch.
