India, Feb. 7 -- The Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday said there is no proposal to open new wine shops in the Union Territory during the financial year 2026-27.

In a written reply to a question by MLA Arjun Singh Raju, the Finance Department, per news agency, informed the House that no new JKEL-2 liquor licences are planned for the upcoming financial year.

The government also shared district-wise revenue generated from existing wine shops over the last two financial years, showing a consistent upward trend.

According to the figures, Jammu district generated Rs48,350.15 lakh in 2023-24 and Rs50,913.93 lakh in 2024-25. Udhampur recorded Rs11,322 lakh and Rs12,061.50 lakh, while Reasi reported Rs3,371 lakh and Rs3,450.50 lakh.
