Jammu Tawi, Aug. 12 -- Jammu and Kashmir recorded 4,977.21 kg of drug seizures in 2024, while 1,550 cases were registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, with 227 convictions and a conviction rate of 51.2 per cent, according to the latest NCRB data cited by the Union Government in the Lok Sabha.
The details were provided by Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, in a written reply to M K Raghavan and Adv Adoor Prakash.
As per the reply, J&K recorded 17,192.409 kg of drug seizures in 2022, which declined to 11,358.528 kg in 2023 and further to 4,977.21 kg in 2024. The number of seizure cases stood at 300,776 in 2022, 158,776 in 2023 and 134,699 in 2024.
