SRINAGAR, Aug. 22 -- The final and spiritually significant leg of the annual Amarnath Yatra began on Saturday with the departure of Chhari Mubarak, the sacred mace of Lord Shiva, from the Dashnami Akhara in Srinagar.

The sacred mace was taken out after traditional prayers and rituals at the Dashnami Akhara, with devotees participating in the ceremonies before it embarked on its customary journey towards the Holy Cave.

Custodian of Chhari Mubarak, Mahant Deependra Giri, said the mace would reach Pahalgam on Saturday after prayers at traditional stopovers along the route.

As per the scheduled programme, the Chhari Mubarak will halt at Chandanwari on August 24 and Sheshnag on August 25 before proceeding to Panchtarni, where it will stay on ...
