India, Sept. 30 -- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Wednesday approved an increase in the Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for all mandated Rabi crops for the 2027-28 marketing season, with safflower receiving the highest hike of Rs675 per quintal.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the decision aims to ensure remunerative prices for farmers. Rapeseed and mustard will get an increase of Rs413 per quintal, followed by lentil (masur) at Rs390, barley at Rs136, gram at Rs83 and wheat at Rs25 per quintal.

The MSP revision is in line with the Union Budget 2018-19 decision to fix MSPs at a level of at least 1.5 times the All-India weighted average cost of production.
