Jammu Tawi, April 30 -- The J&K Cabinet on Tuesday approved a 2 per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees and pensioners, effective from January 1, 2026.
Sources said that the cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, gave its go-ahead for enhancing DA by two percent, raising it from 58 percent to 60 percent.
Sources disclosed that the cabinet has also approved a proposal to unify "The Jammu & Kashmir Cooperative Societies Act" and "The Jammu & Kashmir Self-Reliant Cooperatives Act" into a single law. With this decision, instead of two separate laws, there will now be a single consolidated law governing cooperatives in the Union Territory.
