Jammu, July 13 -- The decision of the National Medical Commission (NMC) to increase the number of MBBS seats in Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) Srinagar and Jammu marks a significant milestone in strengthening the healthcare infrastructure of Jammu and Kashmir. Of course, this is a new milestone in J&K's healthcare journey. After granting the permission for increasing the annual MBBS intake capacity at Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar from 200 to 250, the NMC has now given approval to increase GMC Jammu's annual MBBS intake by 50 seats, raising the total capacity from 200 to 250 from the 2026-27 academic session.
