Jammu, Sept. 19 -- BIS did not disclose the shop selling fake Hallmark jewelry
Jammu Tawi: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office, has seized 1,095 gold-colored jewelry articles during a search and seizure operation at a jewelry outlet in Jammu over the suspected misuse of the BIS Hallmark/Standard Mark.
According to BIS, the seized articles were described by the outlet representative as "coated jewelry", "imitation jewelry" and "1 gram gold plated jewelry" and were not considered gold-alloy jewelry or artefacts covered under the BIS Hallmarking Scheme.
Surprisingly, the BIS has not disclosed the name of the jeweller shop for the reasons best known to them.
