Jammu Tawi, July 22 -- The Government of India (GoI) on Tuesday informed Parliament that there is no separate or exclusive quota for students from the Union Territory of Ladakh at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Srinagar, stating that a common 35 per cent Special Preferential Quota has been earmarked for eligible domicile candidates from both Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
In a written reply to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha, the Ministry of Textiles said NIFT Srinagar reserves 35 per cent of its total seats under the Special Preferential Quota for domicile candidates from the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, besides registered Kashmiri migrants.
