Nigeria, June 26 -- The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, gave the assurance in a statement reposted on his official X handle on Friday following an interview on ARISE Television.

"We had a challenge, and we are fixing it," Wahab said, acknowledging the concerns raised by residents over waste collection across the state.

The commissioner explained that Lagos was undergoing a major transition from its traditional linear waste management system to a circular economy model that treats waste as a valuable resource rather than refuse.

According to him, the new strategy aims to promote environmental sustainability while unlocking economic opportunities through waste recycling and resource recovery.
