Nigeria, Sept. 17 -- The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared an indefinite strike over the alleged failure to implement the Federal Government-ASUU agreement signed in December 2025.

The branch Chairman, Prof. Omeh Obasi Ngwoke, said the industrial action was also triggered by alleged violations and illegalities within the university.

Ngwoke said the union had held several meetings with the university management and exercised patience while awaiting the payment of outstanding salaries in line with directives from the Federal Government.
