Nigeria, July 9 -- The defendants, whose residential addresses were not disclosed, pleaded not guilty to the two count charge.

The prosecutor, Inspector Ayodeji Aina, told the court that the alleged offences were committed on July 7 at about 10:00 a.m. in Ado-Ekiti.

According to him, the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace. He further alleged that they were found in possession of a wrap of weed suspected to be cannabis.

Aina said the offences contravene Sections 181(1)(d) and 5(b) of the Indian Hemp Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

The prosecutor requested an adjournment to enable the prosecution to study the case file and assemble its witnesses.
