Taraba Bans Animal Rearing in Residential Areas, Sets N50,000 Fine for Violators
Nigeria, Aug. 30 -- The Taraba State Government has banned the rearing of cows and other animals within residential communities and across Jalingo, the state capital, as part of efforts to curb environmental nuisance, protect public health and restore cleanliness and orderliness.
The government warned that residents who violate the ban risk a fine of N50,000.
Chairman of the Taraba State Environmental Sanitation Agency (TSESA), Mr Iliya Kefas, disclosed this during the state's environmental sanitation exercise in Jalingo.
Kefas said the prohibition was backed by existing environmental laws enacted by the Taraba State House of Assembly and approved by the executive.
