Resisting Arrest May Turn Violent- Police Urge Anambra Residents to Seek Legal Redress Instead
Nigeria, May 18 -- The warning was contained in a statement issued over the weekend by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who reaffirmed the Command's commitment to maintaining professionalism while urging members of the public to cooperate with security operatives at all times.
Incidents of resisting arrest across parts of the state have increased in the recent past, with citizens and law enforcement agents losing their lives in the confrontations that usually ensue.
The latest was the killing of a 23-year-old man at Mgbakwu in Awka North Council Area, accused of dealing on illicit drugs during an attempt to arrest him, with injuries to an operative of the law enforcement arm, which came for the operation.
