Nigeria, July 30 -- Heavy rainfall on Wednesday morning caused flooding in parts of Maiduguri, Borno State, disrupting daily activities and sparking renewed concerns among residents.

It will be recalled that Maiduguri experienced devastating floods last year, which resulted in the loss of lives and destruction of property across the state.

During an interview with The News Chronicle, some residents called on President Bola Tinubu and Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum to take urgent steps to address the situation and prevent further flooding.

The downpour, which started around 6:00 a.m. and lasted until 11:00 a.m., left many roads impassable and disrupted business activities in affected areas.
