Police Arrest Two Over N39.2m Cyber Fraud, Recover N10.08m in Borno
Nigeria, July 20 -- According to a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the cyber-enabled financial fraud was reported on April 17, 2026, after unknown individuals unlawfully accessed a customer's bank account in the Bolori area of Maiduguri and withdrew N39,208,000.
The statement said operatives of the Command's Crack Squad immediately launched an intelligence-led investigation, employing digital forensic techniques to identify those behind the crime.
The investigation led to the arrest of two suspects on June 27, 2026. They were identified as 23-year-old Ibrahim Alhaji Gaji and 39-year-old Umar Mohammed, also known as Baba Alhaji.
