Nigeria, Oct. 18 -- The tragic incident occurred at about 4:20 p.m. on Sunday when a commercial tricycle, popularly known as Keke NAPEP, conveying a family returning from church service reportedly caught fire after being hit by another vehicle.

An eyewitness, Kefas Gyang, who spoke to newsmen in Jos on Sunday, said the tricycle was engulfed in flames, leaving bystanders struggling to rescue the occupants.

Gyang, who said he arrived at the scene after the collision, recounted how efforts to save the victims were hampered by the intensity of the fire.

"I was passing by on my way from work when I saw people crying. I went closer to find out what had happened and saw people trying to rescue the victims," he said.
