PCN Seals 505 Medicine Outlets in Cross River, Says Nearly Half Operate Illegally
Nigeria, July 17 -- The Council said it sealed 505 pharmaceutical premises for various regulatory violations, describing the findings as a serious threat to public health and the integrity of Nigeria's medicine supply chain.
Speaking at a news conference on Friday in Calabar, the PCN Director of Enforcement, Dr. Suleiman Chiroma, said the discoveries were made during a four-day enforcement exercise carried out across the state.
According to Chiroma, the operation was conducted under the directive of the Registrar of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, Mr. Ibrahim Ahmed, and covered Bekwara, Yakurr, Obubra, Ikom, Yala, Ogoja, Akamkpa, Odukpani, Calabar Municipal and Calabar South Local Government Areas.
