Nigeria, Aug. 16 -- The candidate of the Accord Party, Gov. Ademola Adeleke, has taken an early lead in the Osun governorship election, according to results announced so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

A review of results uploaded on the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed Adeleke ahead of his major challengers.

They are the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Munirudeen Oyebamiji, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam.

As of the time of filing this report, results from 25 of the state's 30 local government areas had been announced by the respective Returning Officers.
