Nigeria, Aug. 19 -- The Ogun State Government has declared Thursday, August 20, 2026, a public holiday to mark this year's Isese Day celebration.

The government said the declaration reflects the administration's commitment to preserving and promoting Yoruba culture, heritage and traditional values.

August 20 was formally recognised as a public holiday in Ogun State in 2023 following a resolution by the Ogun State House of Assembly and the approval of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

According to the government, Isese Day offers adherents of the Yoruba traditional religion an opportunity to honour their ancestors, observe traditional rites and uphold the values and teachings embedded in their spiritual and cultural practices.
