Nigeria, April 10 -- The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, has directed an immediate investigation into allegations of extortion involving officers stationed along the Lagos-Seme border route.

The directive follows viral online reports accusing some personnel of engaging in unethical practices. In a statement released on Friday in Abuja by the Service Public Relations Officer, Mr. Akinsola Akinlabi, the NIS leadership expressed strong disapproval of the claims.

"This is unacceptable and contrary to its established standards and violates the core values, ethics, and operational guidelines of the Service," Nandap said.
