Nigeria, April 8 -- Joint troops of the 114 Battalion (Motorised) and 199 Special Forces Battalion have discovered and safely neutralised an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by suspected terrorists along the Gwoza-Yamteke road in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security sources disclosed that the device was detected at about 3:52 p.m. on Monday April 6, 2026, during a routine patrol conducted between Bitta and Gwoza.

Following the discovery, the troops immediately cordoned off the area and alerted an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team to handle the situation.
