Nigeria, March 1 -- Suspected ISWAP militants have attacked a military base at Banki Junction along the Bama-Gwaza Road in Borno State, killing several Nigerian soldiers, including an Army Major identified as U.I. Mairiga. The attackers reportedly stormed the Forward Operating Base around 4:00 a.m., firing sporadically and operating in multiple groups. Some soldiers were killed, while others fled into the bush. Military sources said the bodies of the fallen personnel were transferred to the 7 Division Military Hospital in Maiduguri.
