Nigeria, March 27 -- His resignation was confirmed on Friday in a statement issued by Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya movement.
"The Kwankwasiyya Movement hereby informs the public, the people of Kano State, and Nigerians at large that the Deputy Governor has tendered his resignation," the statement read.
The development comes after the Kano State House of Assembly, on March 5, served Abdussalam with an impeachment notice over allegations of gross misconduct, abuse of office, and breach of public trust, The News Chronicle gathered .
The allegations stem from a petition by the state executive accusing him of irregularities during his tenure as Commissioner for Local Government Affairs between 2023 and 2024.
