Nigeria, Aug. 27 -- The Kano State Government says it is upgrading key cultural sites and expanding support for local crafts to preserve Hausa heritage while creating jobs and economic opportunities for youths.

Ahmad Yusuf, Executive Secretary of the Kano State History and Culture Bureau, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday on the sidelines of the World Hausa Day celebration in Kano.

Yusuf said the government was upgrading the Kano Dyeing Pit, Tannery and Knitting Center at Kofar Mata, Karofin Zage and Kofar Wambai to preserve their historical value and improve their economic potential.
