Nigeria, June 9 -- The dispute reportedly erupted after the party leadership replaced several candidates earlier nominated by the Kwankwasiyya bloc, triggering tensions within the state structure.



The move was said to be aimed at enforcing a pre-agreed 60/40 power-sharing arrangement between the Kwankwasiyya faction and the party's original structure.

Under the formula, the Kwankwasiyya camp was expected to control 60 percent of elective positions and party offices, while the existing NDC structure retains 40 percent.
