Nigeria, Oct. 2 -- The Federal Government installed 707,765 electricity meters in Nigeria in the first half of 2026, but more than 4.8 million domestic and industrial users remained unmetered as of June.

According to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), 357,495 meters were installed in the first quarter, and another 350,270 meters were put on during the second quarter.

The number of meters installed is higher by 71 per cent than the 412,792 meters recorded in the same period last year.

However, only 7.74 million of the 12.59 million active registered electricity customers as of June 2026 were metered, indicating a 61.51 per cent national metering coverage.
