Nigeria, Aug. 6 -- The Federal Government has directed the immediate implementation of measures to strengthen the safety and protection of health workers across the country following a rise in cases of harassment, intimidation and assaults.

The directive was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday night by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Ms. Daju Kachollom.

Kachollom said the decision followed the submission of the report of the Ministerial Committee on the Harassment of Health Workers by Security Personnel.
