Nigeria, Jan. 30 -- The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, permission to travel to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, for the lesser hajj and to observe the last 10 days of Ramadan.

Justice Emeka Nwite approved the request after Bello's lawyer, Joseph Daudu (SAN), applied for the temporary release of his international passport.

The EFCC, represented by Kemi Pinheiro (SAN), did not oppose the application.

Bello told the court he limited his request to 10 days out of respect for his ongoing trial. The court ruled that the trip would run from March 13, and adjourned the case to January 30 for continuation of proceedings.
