Nigeria, Aug. 7 -- DJ Cuppy, born Florence Otedola, addressed the pressure on her to marry in a new interview with Marie Claire Nigeria.

Cuppy, who holds degrees from New York University, Oxford, and King's College London, joked that her academic pursuits have doubled as a way to dodge questions about a husband. She said: "I call it avoidance of marriage. Every time my grandma asks, 'Where's your husband?', I show her a new certificate."

She said the pressure to marry does not come only from strangers online. "I get marriage proposals every day. And I'm not even talking about fans," she said. "Everyone is apparently trying to help me when I have not asked to be helped."
