COOUTH Targets Implant Shop to Improve Access to Surgical Care in Anambra
Nigeria, Oct. 2 -- The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, COOUTH, Amaku- Awka, has established an Implant Shop to improve patients' access to essential surgical implants and reduce delays in specialised surgical procedures.
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Maureen Umeakuewulu, made the disclosure in a chat with newsmen in Awka, Anambra State Capital.
Umeakuewulu, while noting that surgical implants are medical devices used to support, replace, repair or stabilise damaged parts of the body, explained that they are commonly required in orthopaedic, neurosurgical and other specialised procedures, including fracture management, joint replacement and treatment of traumatic injuries.
