Nigeria, Sept. 19 -- A Chief Magistrates' Court sitting in Badagry, Lagos State, has ordered the remand of a 44-year-old businessman, Musiliu Ganiyu, in connection with a N5 million fraud.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr. Nurudeen Layeni, directed that Ganiyu be held at the Nigerian Custodial Centre, Badagry, until October 8, when the case will come up for fact presentation and sentencing.
The order followed the businessman's guilty plea to the charge brought against him.
According to the police prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, the incident took place on August 23 at around 8:00 p.m. in the Ijanikin area of Lagos. Ekpo explained that Ganiyu fraudulently obtained goods worth N5,030,000 from one Sheriff Hazmat, the complainant.
