Nigeria, May 21 -- The outcome of the party's primary election was announced on Thursday in Makurdi by the Returning Officer, Mr. Abraham Akaater, while presenting the results to the Governorship/State Assembly Primary Election Committee.

Akaater disclosed that Ogenyi recorded the highest number of votes cast during the exercise, defeating three other aspirants to clinch the party's ticket.

According to him, the deputy speaker secured 7,132 votes, while Mr. Mark Ochoga garnered 264 votes. Mr. Dickson Otokpa polled 180 votes, and Mr. Godswill Iduh received 143 votes.

He further revealed that a total of 8,767 votes were recorded in the primary election.
