The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has directed all public primary and secondary school teachers in Oyo State to embark on an indefinite strike beginning Monday, June 1, 2026, in protest against the continued captivity of abducted teachers and pupils in Oriire Local Government Area.
The industrial action follows the abduction of 46 pupils and their teachers by suspected terrorists in the Ahoro-Esinele and Yawota communities, a development that has sparked widespread concern over the safety of learners and education workers across the state.
