Nigeria, Sept. 10 -- Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC Peter Obi, has dismissed reports that he rejected an offer to become former Vice President Atiku Abubakar's running mate ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

In an interview on Arise Television monitored by The News Chronicle, the former Anambra State Governor clarified that he was never presented with such an offer in the first place.

Asked whether he had ruled out becoming Atiku's running mate, Obi said there was no basis for claims that he had turned down the position.

"Who said that? No, nobody... There wasn't even any party where that offer was on the table," he said.
