Nigeria, Aug. 20 -- Political economist and leadership advocate, Prof. Pat Utomi, has criticised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for failing to make debates a central feature of Nigeria's electoral process.

In an interview with ARISE NEWS monitored by The News Chronicle, Utomi said the electoral commission had a responsibility to organise debates that would enable Nigerians to properly assess candidates before voting.

He made the remarks while reflecting on South Korea's political transformation, where, according to him, debates played a significant role in reducing the influence of moneybags in elections.
