Dhaka, Aug. 14 -- The water level of the Teesta River at Dalia point was flowing 5cm above danger level, inundating the low-lying areas including the standing crops in the Charlands of Teesta.

It is reported that water has entered 8-10 Chars and low-lying areas of six unions of Hatibandha upazila as the water level has inflated in Teesta River.

Assistant Engineer Nurul Islam said that the water level at Dalia point was flowing above 5cm. All the 44 sluice gates of Teesta Barrage were kept open for controlling water.

According to Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC), in the Rangpur division, the water levels of the Teesta, Dhala, and Dudhkumari rivers increased over the past 24 hours.
