Dhaka, Aug. 26 -- Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Md Abdul Momen has warned that voters often expect money or other benefits during elections and stressed the need to curb the supply of illicit funds in campaigns.

Speaking at the ACC office in Segunbagicha on Monday, Momen explained that election spending typically rises, and controlling the flow of cash depends largely on the suppliers. "There is a demand side and a supply side. We must shut down the supply side," he said.

The ACC chief called on journalists to play a key role in reporting cases of excessive campaign spending. Candidates are required to submit asset declarations, and any attempt to conceal wealth should be reported to the ACC for investigation, he added.
