Dhaka, June 12 -- Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan, Adviser to the Ministries of Road Transport and Bridges, Railways, and Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, has issued a stern warning against the illegal extraction of sand using dredgers.

He stated that river erosion is caused by changes in the river's natural course and the unlawful dredging of sand. The operation of dredgers contributes to erosion in surrounding areas. If necessary, the army and coast guard will be deployed to seize illegal dredgers and bring their owners under the purview of the law.
