Dhaka, Oct. 18 -- The pass rate in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations has dropped significantly to 58.83 percent compared to last year (77.78 percent), and the number of PA-5 candidates also decreased significantly.
About 19 percent fewer candidates passed this time compared to last year. Overall, the pass rate for HSC and equivalent exams has plummeted.
The failure of this large number of students has created a major challenge not only in their personal lives, but also for the national education system.
Boards may blame stricter examination rules, tougher question papers, or changed syllabus as reasons for the decline in pass rates, but the real reason probably lays deeper.
